A gruff yet goldy man, Padre Pio (1887-1968) was a healer and mystic. He aspired to great holiness, both for himself and for the many people who came to him for spiritual direction. For the final fifty years of his life, Padre Pio silently endured both the physical pain of his stigmata and times of persecution. However, even when under church discipline, Padre Pio was graced with amazing gifts that enabled him to carry out his ministry until the day he died.
In the end, truth prevailed and Padre Pio's sanctity became known throughout the world. Over 100,000 of Padre Pio's "spiritual children" attended his funeral, and in May 1999 Padre Pio was beatified by Pope John Paul II.
Meet Padre Pio will bring you face-to-face with one of the most beloved yet mysterious Catholic personalities of the twentieth century.
