This
gold-filled Mother of God medallion is 1 1/8" X 5/8", has a stainless
gold, heavy curb chain and is enclosed in a charming box. The Mother of God medal is a rectangle with a
circular top. On the front it shows Mary
holding Jesus. On the back is a cross
with the inscription ICXC NIKA. In the
eastern church, this is a popular abbreviation meaning "Jesus Christ
Conquers".
Mary chose to say yes to the
invitation of God, through the angel Gabriel, to be the mother of Jesus,
although she certainly must have had many questions and been uncertain how this
would affect her life and her standing in the community. This is a wonderful example for us of how to
